Green Piggy Is Open For Business
We are very excited to announce the start of our company, Green Piggy. Green Piggy is not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill carbon offset company. Sure, we’re environmentalists and we get all fired-up about global warming, but we’re ordinary people too, just trying to spread the word about the effects of global warming in hopes that every individual, company and government will take action and voluntarily reduce their emissions.
Our message is different than that of other carbon offset companies. We’re not asking you to completely change the way you live. We don’t think that approach is going to work. We believe that in order to get people on board in the fight against global warming, they first need to understand what global warming is, why it is occurring, what will happen if nothing is done, and finally, what we can do about it. Once the urgency of this crisis is understood, our goal is for everyone to change a few simple things in their lives that will reduce emissions. When you realize how easy it is to do, hopefully you’ll be inspired to do more.
Let’s face it…we’re spoiled. We like driving our SUVs and living in our large homes. Let’s be responsible and clean up after ourselves. In today’s society there are laws against littering…carbon dioxide pollution should work the same way, but it doesn’t….at least not yet. Currently, there are no laws in the U.S. that regulate carbon dioxide emissions. For us Americans, it is a voluntary effort…an important effort.
There are easy things you can do at home and things you can do when driving your car that can help reduce your emissions. We’re just asking people to be accountable for their personal pollution. Recycle, reuse and reduce what you can; offset the rest. Today, there are a number of effective carbon offset solutions that are proven and verified, such as the projects Green Piggy funds.
If every person in the United States just switched 1 regular 60 watt light bulb with a CFL, it would be equivalent to taking 1.3 million cars off the road! Isn’t that amazing! Something as effortless as changing a single light bulb in your home can really have a huge impact. The catch? Every person needs to reduce their emissions in some way.
So, once again we just want to state that our message isn’t for everyone to radically change their lifestyles, it is for everyone to educate themselves about global warming and to reduce your energy use and CO2 emissions in ways that work for you; what you can’t reduce or eliminate, simply offset. Be responsible. Spread the word. This is a global issue that requires global participation.
