How It Is Calculated
To calculate your vehicle’s emissions, we divide the total number of miles driven in a year
by the miles per gallon (mpg) or fuel efficiency of the vehicle. We then multiply that
number by 19.6, the amount of pounds of CO2 that is emitted into the atmosphere as a
result of burning one gallon of gasoline. Your emission results may surprise you, but at
least now you can do something about it!
